Shops & Boutiques

The center of Florence has long been a mecca for shoppers who love artisan treasures, antiques, home decor, jewelry and accessories, and – of course – fashion.

Just around the corner from Velona’s Jungle Luxury Suites, guests can stop into our family’s historic shop along Via dei Fossi in the neighborhood famous for its antiques. Here, Furio and Filippo Velona show only the choicest and most unique 18th century Italian furniture, paintings from the Italian school dating from the 1600’s and 1700’s, objets d’arte in porcelain and bronze, lamps, and other decor from the family’s collection, much of which was also used to decorate our luxury suites.

For our mid-century pieces, we put ourselves inthe able hands of Donata Patrussi, a passionate expert of 20th century design and aficionado of 1950’s furnishings and decor. Her boutique in on Via Palmieri in the medieval Santa Croce neighborhood. We recommend stopping by for a browse and a chat with Donata to anyone who loves modern design.

Be also love the 4Nero boutique owned and operated by Ilaria Becciolini, where we found some of the most beautiful and unique decorative accents for our suites, and where pieces from the most famous workshops of Florence’s renowned artisans, including Richard Ginori, are sold. The shop is in Via Marsuppini, near the most stunning scenic overlook in the city: Piazzale Michelangelo.

For those who love fashion, Florence is the birthplace of some of the most recognized names from Italy, including Gucci, Cavalli, Ferragamo, Pepe, and Pucci. You’ll find these boutiques and many others just steps from Velona’s Jungle Luxury Suites along the elegant Via De’Tornabuoni.

In addition to famous labels, Florence has a number of independent boutiques where the most well-turned out Florentines have been shopping for decades; our favorites are Bernardo on Via Porta Rossa, which makes custom-tailored suits , and Montgomery on Via Pellicceri, which stocks the most up-to-date and exclusive pieces.

Florence is also famous for its artisan jewelers, and no visit to the city is complete without a stop in one of the historic workshops in the center of the city. Local artists have been working gold and precious stones for centuries here, and traditional skill blends with contemporary design in some of the most stunning jewelry in the world. We love the pieces at Plooto Design Made in Florence, the Gem collection at Borgo San Jacopo, and the masterpieces at Oreria on Borgo Pinti.
