Gardens

Experience the beauty of Florence by exploring some of its most charming urban oasis: the gardens dotting the city center, all of which are an easy walk from Velona’s Jungle Luxury Suites.

Just across the street from our palazzo, the sweeping Parco delle Cascine beckons with elegant tree-lined lanes, monumental sculptures, and historic buildings on its extensive grounds. For those who want to start the day off right, this is the perfect spot for a morning walk or run with views along the Arno River.

A short walk from  Velona’s Jungle, there are two “secret” gardens where you can retreat from the city crowds and enjoy a few minutes of near solitude:  the Giardino degli Orti Oricellai and the Giardino di Palazzo Corsini al Prato, this latter home to “Artigianato e Palazzo”, a unique market featuring Florence’s local artisans held each spring.

Florence’s famed Boboli Gardens are about 15 minutes away by foot, and are considered among the finest examples of Italianate gardens in the world. Home to lovely sculptures, carefully planned hedges, pretty ponds, decorative fountains, and small temples and grottoes, the Boboli Gardens are an open-air museum more than simply a park. Visitors can access the gardens through the courtyard of Palazzo Pitti.

Your ticket to the Boboli Gardens includes entrance to the breathtaking Villa Bardini garden, which is worth a visit for both the beauty of the grounds and the lovely view over the whole of Florence’s historic center. This garden also hosts important art shows and interesting temporary exhibits.
